MEASURES PUT IN PLACE TO MAKE A 100 % ECO-FRIENDLY EVENT


Every aspects of this event have been reviewed and reflect, to the extent possible, the best practices in environmental sustainability. Here are the initiatives put in place in 2016 that will be repeated in 2017:

SUPPLY

  • Reusable,recyclable and / or ecological materials are preferred at all times.

  • The bibs are made of CFC-certified paper and electronic chips used for timing are rented and therefore reused for other events.

  • Food served on-site is organic, local and fair trade (according to availability).

  • Service providers and sponsors are selected according to their sustainable practices(organic, local, fair, ecological).

TRAVEL

  • Most transportation to meetings is done by bike or transit, and hybrid and electric vehicles.

  • Greenhouse gas emissions from travel (where required) will be offset by Planétair.

  • Participants are encouraged to use sustainable modes of travel to the site : active transportation (walking, cycling, running, etc.), public transportation (bus,metro), car-sharing or car-pooling.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

  • Reduction at the source: no distribution of cups nor bottles of water, no participant's kit,no medals nor trophies, or unnecessary promotional material.

  • All residual materials generated by the event are sorted to be re-used, recycled or composted before being discarded.

EDUCATION AND AWARENESS

  • Eco-friendly initiatives are promoted in our communication : newsletter, website, Facebook,Twitter, etc.

  • Education stands and signs are on site to raise awareness
